This online edition finds our numbers about the same as they were a couple of years ago; some have grown larger, other congregations have become smaller due to brethren moving out of the area, and a few have ceased to meet where they once met. Still, there are people "out there" who remain that may respond to the gospel message, so we can never be content with the way things are. The fact remains that the "seed" planted in an "honest and good heart" continues to be the Lord's way of having His church grow (Luke 8:5-15).
This directory has been prepared to help "disciples indeed" (John 8:31-32) find those "of like precious faith" (2 Peter 2:1) as they travel around and about the state of North Carolina. The congregations listed here are known by the compiler to be seekers of truth, who insist upon "book-chapter-and-verse" preaching for all that they are asked to believe and practice. As such, these brethren oppose such innovations and digressions as using instrumental music in their worship, practicing the sponsoring church arrangement (in benevolence and/or evangelism), providing church-sponsored recreation or entertainment, supporting institutionalism, and participating in any other form(s) of religious error. We insist upon the expressed (revealed) will of God to believe or practice any thing (Col. 3:17). In order to help users of this directory, a date (e.g., 020329 [year/month/day] or 02Mar02 [day/month/year]) has been entered at the bottom (next to the "top" arrow) of each listing to reflect the last date the information for this congregation was updated.
No doubt, some people may take exception with some of the congregations listed (just as they may be offended by having other congregations omitted). It is no great honor to be listed herein; rather, all should seek to ensure that their names are "written in the Lamb's book of life" (Rev. 21:27).
